Two questions: (well, three really) (1) In the introduction, it says "Some of them can't cook". Why are they on then? it must be the money. I wonder how much they "earn" per appearance. (2) If some of them haven't cooked for ages, how come they suddenly find a hidden talent? I was told that they have behind the scenes "mentors". Can anyone confirm that?

I was wondering that when Wayne Sleep said he hadn't cooked for several years. Surely he doesn't need the money or the limelight.

I think they get the same fee no matter how long they are on for, like Simply. As for the haven't cooked for xxx years, a) I guess when invited to do the show they have tome to practice if they want to, b) its not too difficult to resurrect old skills c) Cooking techniques can be learnt, presentation is harder but can be learnt, especially if you are naturally neat and have a design eye but having a palate and knowing how things taste is the invaluable bit and very difficult indeed to learn.

to add, I think what keeps the show interesting are the wild card folk who viewers might not expect to get through....
