Forgotten Western Film

Can anyone remember a western film where a criminal was escaping on a horse & a guy brings out an ancient rifle type gun sets it up on a tripod & fires at the crim who was now almost on the horizon & fetches him off his horse ? A truly magnificent shot.

Hi there: have a feeling it was Cat Ballou ... only reason for thinking so due to Nat King Cole being in the cast (one of my all-time favourite singers). Hope this helps ...
