Any suggestions for rarer scary films. I am not thinking the obvious choices like 'The Shining', 'The Exorcist' or newer ones like 'The Conjuring'.

Any very obscure, forgotten gems?

The Devil Rides Out - the original version - used to make me lose sleep at night.

very good film..I have that one though!
Very obscure and forgotten is an old Vincent Price B movie - The Tingler. Terrified me when I first saw it but would be good for a laugh now.
I don't generally do horrors but Let The Right One In was pretty good.

Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte- Bette Davies, used to scare the *** out of both my sister and I when we were younger.
I made it much worse by hiding under her bed, singing the song from the film and creeping my hand under the covers and grabbing her leg,
Gosh did she scream, Lol
I'm surprised she never had nightmares.
Midnight express! Not a horror as such but very scary!
I agree with The Haunting, definitely the 1963 version.
Repulsion

Roman Polanski film from 1965 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059646/reference#comment
The Haunted Airman (2006). I read the book The Haunting of Toby Jugg by Dennis Wheatley, it was definitely the the most horrific story ever. The film came close.
Oh God Repulsion, I've never eaten rabbit since, that was a seriously disturbing film.
Wait until Dark, Audrey Hepburn as a blind woman and three burglars in her flat
The Changeling starring George C Scott, scary, also And Soon The Darkness!
Not often mentioned anymore, but Hitchcock's Psycho (the 1960 version has to be near the top of anyone list...
Rosemarys Baby was pretty scary in its time
I am still affected by watching Sixth Sense. 'I see dead people.' It scares me, even now.
Hellraiser scared the pants off me when I was younger and the 1997 film 'The Cube' is a scary thing indeed (I still can't watch it all without wincing).

Another heebee-jeebee one is 'Event Horizon' and who could forget Aliens... Boo!
Have to agree with "The Haunting" . I still dare not sleep with my hand outside of the bedclothes!
