I once read that a year in soap or a pregnancy in soap were a lot shorter than real life, so that the storylines would move along quicker to hold the attention of the viewer, so how come we have been watching the shelley/charlie saga and the kat/alfie/little mo saga for the past 12 months?

Neighbours is shorter than a real year, most soaps like Coronation Street or Eastenders run in real time so they can do huge big episodes at Christmas and stuff
I remember in Emmerdale, Kim Tate got pregnant a month before me and had her baby (James) a month after. So she was pregnant for 11 months.
