What did everyone think of this series?
I thought some of the episodes were weak such as the one with the Skovox Blitzer which was running amok in the school. It was supposed to be terrifying but just looked like a larger version of a kids robot toy and had a very bad aim, it kept missing most of the characters it was shooting at!
Also why did Clara never appear to be frightened in any of the episodes, even when her life seemed to be in danger, she always had a smile of enjoyment on her face!
I thought Flatline was a very good story and quite creepy, but even that had a weak ending, the doctor turned up, flourished his sonic screwdriver at them they all disappeared, quite an easy defeat for characters that were easily able to absorb themselves into walls etc.
I know the storylines can be more complicated than it looks and I may be interpreting them incorrectly, is there a good reason why Clara seems fearless, even more so than the Doctor?
Saying that I am looking forward to the Christmas episode, hopefully some loose ends will be tied up from this series.

Bit of a curate's egg of a series, perhaps. Capaldi's take on the Doctor hasn't come across too badly, I think, but some of the plot lines were a bit awful. "The Moon is an egg" was a particularly poor example. And then there were several times when the tension was resolved just a little too easily, e.g in the season finale I thought they could have done something a bit better than actually happened. Also too many cheesy/ cringeworthy moments like, again in the season finale, where Danny Pink launched into that short heroic speech before nobly sacrificing his dead zombie self, or the hippy "trees save the world, man" thing.

But some good moments: the "monsters under the bed" episode was my particular favourite and stand-out episode, and Michelle Gomez made a good "Mistress" -- guessing that she wasn't killed so much as teleported somewhere, so we might (and hopefully will) see her again.

Hi Jim360, yes agree about the finale,a bit cheesy in places, also I felt they were borrowing from the movie Iron Man when the Cybermen were able to fly, perhaps a bit of lazy script writing? I love Michelle Gomez as an actress, she is so quirky and played 'Mistress' incredibly well, like you I hope we will see her again.

I felt a bit disappointed in the series - I prefer the old days when the Doctor got in the Tardis and whizzed off to help another planet in distress and rid them of Daleks/Cybermen and similar, with the help of his companion (who didn't take over the show!) and the Doctor didn't have a mobile phone! He spent too much time on Earth. But I do think that Peter Capaldi was good in it, but got rather fed up with the Clara/Danny on off business all the time.

not seen the last one yet so cant comment on that. However, I will say I think Mr Capaldi is doing OK, it does normally take a series to get used to the quirks of the new doctor and he has some incredibly amazing shoes to fill :-)

Clara on the other hand i have to disagree sue11 i have felt she has been more needy and not able to be the strong "go get em girl" she has been previously. she always seems to be shout "Doctor, Doctor please come and help me" and not able to do stuff for herself.

I have not minded the Danny Pink stuff and he is great. Spoiler i know that clara is leaving so i expect he is going to have something to do with that.

I did like the return of the Mistress love the idea, and there was a hint of Timelords occasionally changing sex when regenerating. I like it :-)

Planning to watch the last one tonight so looking forward to it.

Hi Islasmum and ABauntie. Thanks for your, I agree that it does take time for a new doctor to 'bed in' and I think that Peter Capaldi is very good in the role. Having got used to a much younger doctor over the years, I am finding it a bit difficult to see someone older in the role, but he plays it very well.
I hope that we do see a good ending for Clara and Danny rather than the way it has been left at the moment (trying not to do a spoiler in case anyone else has not seen the finale), but isn't it funny ABauntie how we can interpret things differently? From the way Clara took over in the Flatline episode to the way she handled the cyberman who was about to shoot her, I did not get the impression that she was needy or 'help me doctor' at all! But that is my view and obviously others see a different Clara to how I am perceiving her!

i also agree with isalsmum that there are too many "on Earth" episodes. I want to see distant stars and weird aliens :-)

Most of it was adequate. I thought the new Doc (and maybe writers ?) were bedding in. I was most put out by the shifting of the time it was aired to after kiddies' bedtime (and after I'd gone to the pub to meet friends) in order to put some dancing nonsense on instead.

Also that last one (two ?). I caught it Sunday and wondered why I bothered. It was absolute garbage, The plot made no sense, the magic cybermen dust that creates zombies from the dead was the worst, every few minutes there was one of those "in one bound he was free" type situation where one side got the upper hand from the other with no apparent justification. The very idea that the Earth's (or was it UK's ?) forces were waiting for the emergence of the cybermen at the start, was ridiculous especially since they had no idea what to do afterwards. Making the Doc president of Earth shows a show bereft of ideas, the apparent destruction of Missy moved nothing on properly. It's difficult to find anything that wasn't easy to criticise.

I think they need to get a whole new set of writers if there is to be another series. Nothing like going out on a low is there. Well I tell a lie, that last series of Dr Who did just that.

I agree with Old_Geezer . Saturdays' episode was the very first time I've ever exclaimed 'what a load of Toss!' when referring to Dr. Who. The Cyber fairy dust was about the last straw and Clara is becoming a bore (bring back someone like Catherine Tate). However Capaldi is doing a good job,not too quirky not too sexy and reminds me of more old-school Dr. Who's.

I watched the last episode last night and did feel disappointed that the whole thing came down to "love" in the graveyard.
There were some lovely touches - danny staying "human" because of love and saving the world and the brigadier coming back to save his annoying daughter.

But the Mistress gave up too easily the Master of old always had plots within plots and loads of back up plans :-(
i have liked the ideas behind each of the programmes even the moon as an egg one but the story writers dont seem to be getting a grip.

I do hope things improve but this is what happened with the old dr who's the stories got worse and worse and eventually things grind to a halt.

As a huge Dr who fan i would be sad if it stopped again.

It's been going downhill for a while for me. I loved the Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant series' and, although I wasn't keen on Matt Smith, could still watch them and enjoy them. I have found it hard to get into this series and have found myself losing interest a lot through episodes.

I do like Peter Capaldi but I'm not sure what it is, I am hoping I can get back into it as I've enjoyed it so much in the past.
