No wonder the Queen did not go
Michael McIntyre was an embarrassment as the compere especially at the start of the show..Sara Milligan was no poor. About time she had some new and better material
The coloured singer from South Africa and Alfie Boe were both very good.
Bette Midler-It's unbelievable that she only sung one song and as an opening act.Should have cut McBusted out and given her another 10 minutes
Miss Sagion was a great excerpt especially "The last night of the world"
Shirley Bassey is still terrific as per usual. Why did she not close the show.
The rest of the acts except Elle Goulding were very ordiniary and would be lucky to top the bill at Wigan Pier

It was adequate to say "singer from south Africa", no need to mention colour.

After all you would not say "white comedian Billy Connolly" would you?

Who likes Michael McIntyre? Nobody I know. He's as funny as haemorrhoids are to a rodeo rider.
'whatever you do, don't mention the colour' Lol.
i thought that the lighting effects on that huge dress worn by Ellie Goulding were absolutely terrific. On the whole I enjoyed the show but found Michael Mcintyre at times rather boring as a compere.
Billy Connolly isn't white, he's tartan
jan, that's being prejudice against rodeo riders...how politically incorrect.
//After all you would not say "white comedian Billy Connolly" would you?// - you might if you lived in a b---k township in South Africa or in the depths of New Orleans or Kingston, Jamaica.
I'm obviously in a minority here but I quite enjoyed the show and thought Michael McIntyre was hilarious, laugh out loud funny. Kate and William thought so too as every time the cameras showed them, they were genuinely laughing. In fact, I'd go as far as to say M.M's compering was the highlight of the show.
What I saw of it McIntyre was fine, Bone, Goulding, Miss Saigon were okay but not memorable, Bassey a bit past it and screechy, the other comedians seriously dire, especially that South African disaster who should be consigned to the back burner immediately.
I understand the very unfunny ( my opinion) Lee Evans has retired. Hopefully, he will enjoy retirement so much, he will contact Michael McIntyre and Sarah Millican, advising them to do the same.
Andy Hughes Good call McIntyre & Millican could be Dentists for all the pleasure they give I just hope that they have better material for when they tour charging £35 and more for a seat. When they both first emerged on the scene I thought they were both Mildly amusing now, not so much .
' a coloured gentleman '

What's one of them then ?

Oh , i know - his face is a orangy brown - his hair is brown - his hands are blue with a reddy tinge - his feet are black ( although black is not a colour ) ....

What do you mean you have never seen one of them walking down the street ?
Some people DO think the word coloured is sometimes inappropriate

I appreciate that I am out of step in that I hardly enjoy any stand-up shows, with a couple of notable exceptions.

It's often not what they say - the material - it is more themselves.

I find Michael McIntyre's flutey voice impossible to listen to, he soulds like a posh twelve-year-old, and Sarah Millican makes me start to dislike the Geordie accent, which I adore - because of her whiney use of it.

Oh well, my middle daughter will go to see any and all of them - she loves the lot!
## I find Michael McIntyre's flutey voice impossible to listen to, he sounds like a posh twelve-year-old,

Andy, I was looking for a word about how is voice sounds, thanks.
With that, its his repeatedly tossing his hair and his not funny walk.

I really cant understand how he can fill out the O2 and other large venues, he is so silly and unfunny.
I doubt I have ever felt sympathy for the royals.......... but to sit through this annual disaster must be mind numbing.
Here goes, I thought it was the best Royal Variety ever and Michael McIntyre had me laughing out loud and I thought Kate and Wills thoroughly enjoyed it. The only act I didn't like was Birley Shassey, never rated her at all !
trt - "## I find Michael McIntyre's flutey voice impossible to listen to, he sounds like a posh twelve-year-old,

You are most welcome.

Before I stopped watching him for ever, I did wonder about his inability to stand still for more than ten seconds, and his hyperactive chattering, and why on earth anyone gives him headroom.

I quite like the fact that tastes vary so much, and that, miles from indifference, people will defend someone they love from attacks from someone who hates them - it underlines the variety of tastes and opinions.
"Some people DO think the word coloured is sometimes inappropriate"

Where have you people been living? 'Coloured' has been 100% unacceptable for decades - if you don't understand why, find out. Or better still, just think about it! The ignorance of some of these posts is unbelievable.
