Proper Christmassy Shows ..
20 Answers
What has happened to all the lovely Christmas shows of yesteryear with the popular festive songs and carols? The only one I have seen advertised this year is the Michael Buble show which is a repeat - I saw it last year and wasn't keen. I do love the Andre Rieu shows on Sky Arts 2 but not everyone can get that channel.
Last year there a good Christmas show by Rod Stewart from a castle in Scotland - would love to see that again. Many years ago we used to watch the Val Doonican, Perry Como and Andy Williams shows, and the big Christmas Sing from the Royal Albert Hall in addition to the Three Tenors Christmas Show.
Anyone else miss them?

According to Radio Times, 'Michael Bublé's Christmas Special' is, indeed, a repeat. However 'Michael Bublé's Christmas Songbook' isn't shown as a repeat. (23/12 at 1950 on C5. Repeated on 25/12 at 1810 on C5, and 1900 on 5*)

Er, not really. As long as Jools Holland has still got his hootenanny on New Year's Eve, I'm happy!

I can remember the old Christmas Shows from the fifties/sixties ...Andy Williams, Perry Como etc....and I'm afraid I thought they were ghastly then and I haven't changed my opinion since....sorry.
My Mum loved them which is why they were always on. Only one TV per household then and very few channels.....3 at best.

When my mum was in early dementia some cousins thought it would be a good idea to take her to see Val Doonican live.....and as her carer they bought me a ticket too... :-(... she didn't want to go either as she was past socialising....
Before I set off for the theatre they called to say that when they picked her up Mum had had a funny turn.....(I know it was a deliberate funny turn)...so they called an ambulance and would I now go to the hospital.
Don't know which was worse.....a night with Val or seven hours in A&E....☻
