I met him waaaayyy back in the 60s during the Z cars years when he was Fancy Smith. Nice man but very loud !

Older but still loud Janbee ! I saw him in some restoration comedy on the South Bank a few years ago, and he was hilarious !

When he is off screen he is quite an amiable and unassuming chap. He doesn't live too far from me and I have encountered him on the train and in the supermarket......I've yet to hear him bellow :-)

Brian is ok. I'd not like to have to put up with him nearby, exhausting and attention grabbing, but on the box he's a character. I get the impression he's a decent bloke.

Yes, well done him. He was very good as Augustus and I love the way he tends to take over every programme he appears on, hiding the fact that he is a very good actor. One of the old school 'the show must go on'. He probably said something like *** elf and safety.

He may be a nice guy in life outside his profession but, within it, I find him to be over-bearing and a boor. I join the switch-off club.

Too loud for me I'm afraid, he's way OTT IMO and not my type of personality at all, each to his own, but there's something about him that isn't 'quite right', does he have a mental problem? Whatever it is...I can't watch anything with him in it now, he's not someone I can stomach to endure on TV.
