Anyone know who actually voices the comentary on the old news reels, it always sound like the same guy, here is a sample from Pathe UK. It may be different people but the voice that commentates always sounds the same. thanks: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/should-hanging-go

That's looks like the fellow, thanks Chris. I assume it's him that Harry Enfield is impersonating when he does his monochrome psuedo "ist" sketches of post war Britain.

I don't know why they cant have people speaking like the old announcers and voice overs used to be on TV instead of this obsession with regional accents.
I adore Harry Enfield's take on the Reithian tones of BBC staff - absolutely spot on.
I agree dave50, especially when it's news reporters.

yes I agree, you need a neutral accent. At the moment we are full of Northern Irish saying piend when they mean pound and northerners who can't pronounce the letter O! Now I must gore, sorry go!
Seem to remember 'This is the British Movietone news -Geoffrey Sumner reporting' but could be wrong. (All the kids messed about when the news etc came on :0)
