I never knew he was so talented.

He wrote a musical that run for 2 years in the west end starring Cliff Richard & David Cassidy, and owns the rights to Ready Steady Go, and he was with Freddy Mercury when he died.

I think he has had a few face lifts, which don't look so good now he is 72, but I loved their music in the 60s.

DC was the first of the 60's musicians to take charge of his career.

Instead of the usual set-up of record labels owning recordings, DC got the rights to his own recordings, and then leased them back to the company which meant that he got the profits - highly unusual for a musician of that time to have the savvy, and the chutzpa to go down that path.

I must watch that. I worked in the teleprinter office on the factory floor at SKF and Glad all Over was on the tannoy and 3 of us belted the song out and bashed the teleprinters at the chorus. We were 'severely reprimanded' ! (That shows my age, teleprinters went the way of the dinosaurs)

Would take a lot of courage to insist to the industry you rely on, that you were going to do it your way and keep the profits the industry wanted for itself. The artiste would have no real power and rely on the hope that if one label said no, another might give a little leeway. I've not read up on him, generally speaking biogs don't do a lot for me, but it sounds as if he took a risk and got away with it.

Mirrors work the same for everyone, from the gorgeous to the plain, the rich to the poor - we look in the mirror and zero in on the bit of our reflection that we dislike the least, and ignore the rest.

Plastic surgery is about self-image - it's what YOU think you look like, not what other people see, albeit that their view is more honest and objective.

So from all of us who make an effort with our outward presentation to the world, from a shave for men to a little make-up for women, right up to the extreme and frequent alterations of the dysmorphia sufferers, the motivation is exactly the same - to present to the world an image which we believe they see, and we are reasonably happy with.

Of course, everyone else sees what they see, which may in some cases be far more positive than our own version, but in the cases of celebrities with 'work done', they rarely look as presentable as they would wish, or that justifies the pain and money involved.
