Don't they just irritate you ? The screaming families on The Voice when they know the camera is pointing at them.

yes it does - it's their 5 mins of fame. The audience is just as bad, On the other hand at least their screaming masks the (usually) dreadful singing!
Not half as much as the four clowns in the swivel chairs do.
Talk about taking a ropey format and kicking it to death.

Over-hyped, overacted, and over presented, IMHO. William with full stops is just beyond, and what a comedown for poor old Tom Jones, cant comment on the current others as I stopped watching this "American-type presenting" long ago. Lets have a bit more decorum please!!
It's a fact of modern culture that audiences have caught the 'need to be involved' bug which involves whooping and screeching at any and every opportunity.

I recall once again watching Steve Harley singing 'Make Me Smile' at an outside gig, and the two extremely well-known pauses before the guitar breaks.

A lady just in front of me seemed to imagine that Mr Harley's performance would be enhanced for himself, and the surrounding watchers, if she took the brief silence, and inserted a loud "Woooo!" at the top of her voice.

Quite who advised her that her contribution was either value-added, or indeed required at all, remains a mystery known only to her.

My motto is simple - if you didn't attend rehearsals, you can't join in the gig!!
That is indeed an extremely fine motto to have Andy, anyone protecting the music of the brilliant Mr Harley gets my vote, how annoying she must have been!
They were probably told to perform for the cameras. Wouldn't have the same impact if they were just standing still and listening to the song.

This was the Acoustic Festival Of Great Britain held at Uttoxeter Race Course, there are no cameras there to 'perform to'!
seriously Andy, come on, one Woooo and that sticks in your memory!. Good job you don't cover dance music. :)
RandyMarsh - "seriously Andy, come on, one Woooo and that sticks in your memory!. Good job you don't cover dance music. :)"

I attend gis where whooping and shireking is the order of the day before, during, and after - absolutely no problem.

But thy dynamics of an acoustic song with a silence usually means that the silence is an integral part of the song, so some silly attention-seeking woman putting her pointless interruption in the middle of it simply detracts from the enjoyment of others around her.

If I was a paying guest, I would have been even more annoyed!!!
maybe she was nervous.
RandyMarsh - "maybe she was nervous."

She should have been - about getting a mouthful of Takamine acoustic, judging by the look Mr Harley gave her!
Andy-Hughes, I was thinking of the supporters/family on The Voice.
sandyRoe - "Andy-Hughes, I was thinking of the supporters/family on The Voice."

Apologies - my misunderstanding.

In that case you are undoubtedly correct - standing looking mournful does not make good TV.
