Returning is rarely done because the actor finds life outside the soap less fulfilling. It may be less financially rewarding, but actors don’t always stay for the money – they like to try different things.
So it is really no big deal for Sarah (or Sarah Lou as she was always called) to return – it gives the writers more story ideas, and the viewing public often like popular – or even unpopular –characters to come back. Witness Nick Cotton who has been back to East Enders more often that the taxi that takes everyone away from the Square.
