I wanted to watch for the acting - superb Sheridan Smith, I hope she has enough room on her mantlepiece for all her awards.

I agree. Although I was emotional through it all I was crying. My friend is going through the very same thing and she is unbelievably positive.

Her lymphnodes were 3 cm then 11cm and now they are 40. Me, how can you cope.

My aunt had breast cancer a few years back (she was only 47) luckily treated well. She coped very well with chemo and radio therapy.
I am never sure why people want to watch TV that makes them cry. Surely there is enough in real life to cry over?
That's why I'll avoid this like the plague.I expect Sheridan will give a superb performance but it's not something I want to watch someone going through.
Too depressing. I prefer to be entertained.
I couldn't watch it. Didn't want to be reminded of what it was like going through chemo!
well acted, based on true story,
I couldn't watch either. A bit too close to home. Fortunately mine was caught early so I only needed lump removed then radiotherapy.
It didn't make me cry, it was handled amazingly sensitively.
Same as you kitty, lumpectomy, but 8 sessions of chemo as Inwas on a trial, then radiotherapy. But luckily still standing!
Knitty, sorry!
I am glad I am not the only one....
I did watch the 'Dying to Live' programme a while ago. Think it was on BBC3. It made me feel very uncomfortable -fascinating and scary at the same time.
well done you ladies who have survived. ;0)
Carolegif. I just got on with it. Get it cut out. Sorted. I found the hardest part was lying still for 10 minutes for the radiotherapy! I realise that not everyone deals with it as I did and I can fully understand how they're feeling. I find it much harder to deal with other people's cancer. A friend's step-daughter is going through chemo at the moment. She's got young children so I just hope that everything goes well for her.
I'm part way through it although I can understand why some might not want to watch it.
Despite having had a close relative and a dear family friend die of the disease, i watched it. Thought it was so-so, a little too emotional, at times and equally a little boring at times. Smith's performance was adequate - lets face it, most of the time she was either typing on her laptop, crying or staring vacantly into infinity.
It was a remarkable performance by Sheridan Smith and Paul Nicholls. I thoroughly recommend this play and am very pleased I didn't avoid it.

I found it to be an eye opener.
Been there, done that, got the tee shirt. Put it all behind me and don't want to be reminded of it. Of course we're all different and all handle these things in our own way.
