How Do I Clean A Led Television

It is flat screen, pretty big, i think 48inch, but i tried cleaning it the other day with a damp cloth and left terrible smears on it and now i can't get rid of them, when you watch it, you can see the lines going down. Please give me some tips and advice, there must be way to clean it without smearing. I have tried the microfibre cloth, and still hasn't worked.

One gets smears on windows too. Surely any cleaning method for windows should work on a TV screen ? (Don't soak the electrics.) Try newspaper maybe ? Or look for a special PC monitor clean spray. Do using those microfibre cloths help ?

i bought some cleaning solution from 99p shop its made by electrotec spray on and use a soft cloth it is brilliant ,also great on computer screens and mirrors x

Much better to spray the cleaner of your choice (I use one of those green window cleaners) onto a paper towel, rather than directly onto the screen.

i very weak solution of washing up liquid / water on a soft cloth but finish off with kitchen roll

Flash do special wipes for plasma and PC screens, I had the same trouble as you and nothing was working but these work much better.

I clean mine with window cleaner - not a smear. Did buy that monitor cleaner but it doesn't work with the plasma.

I have done the same as you Phleb... but no smears. I did use a cotton cloth to dry it though.

LED screens have a plastic surface which may be coated to reduce glare and are easily damaged by scratching and excessive pressure. Any kind of paper to clean plastic surfaces should be avoided to prevent scratches. A clean micro-fibre cloth rubbing gently and with minimal pressure is typically specified for cleaning LED screens. They should be turn off and allowed to cool for a few minutes before cleaning.

If additional cleaning is required, use a micro-fibre cloth with a mild solution of vinegar in distilled water, wringing it out until there's no chance of liquid dripping beyond the edge of the screen. Rub gently to avoid damage to the interior LED matrix, making sure no trace of liquid remains on or beyond the edge of the screen before restoring power.
