Great article, Dave......loved the bit about the polite rescue note written in lipstick.....

Not top gun - as I am pretty sure they didnt see active service

the ATA - or as they put it Ferry pilots was pretty dangerous and they flew and delivered incomplete planes - by the seat of their pants

no heating and no instruments

which accounts for Amy Johnson getting lost over the Thames ....

I've just had another read of the article - quite inspiring - and (as Tony says) the pictures are great too.
