No Mention Of Cilla On The Bbc News

Sad news that Cilla has passed away at such a young age.
I saw that she had died on facebook this morning but when I watched the BBC lunchtime news there was no mention of her. I have since looked up the BBC website and she isn't mentioned there either.
I'm just wondering why that should be? I know that she was mainly associated with ITV but that couldn't be the reason could it?

On Sky, they said her agent had not confirmed the death so no doubt that is why the Beeb has not mentioned it yet.

She actually did a series for BBC called Cilla which ran from 1968-76 at the end of which she always sang Step Inside Love, written for her by Paul McCartney.

I mentioned it at 1:10pm on another question. And there is still no mention of it either on their website or their text news. Even if her death had not been confirmed (which I find hard to believe) I would have thought the BBC would have got to the bottom of it by now.

I have held a suspicion for some time that the BBC news is a 9-5 Monday to Friday operation. The 10pm TV news is simply a re-run of the six o’clock news (which itself is not totally dissimilar to the 1pm edition). Most of the “news” consists of “The Prime Minister will announce today…” or “A government report due to be published today will say…”. This is not news at all and can be compiled from somebody’s front room. The radio news contains no details of things that have recently happened and concentrates instead on ongoing items many days or weeks old.

I suppose they’ll get round to mentioning Cilla some time tomorrow.

I expect the beeb would like to be confirm such news before announcing it. While media like the Mirror say Paul O' Grady confirmed his friend Cilla had died, they'd wait for a reliable source before running such a story

SKY News famously announced Norman Wisdom was dead, and played a pre-prepared video taped obituary. Embarrassingly, Wisdom had a couple more years in him before the tape was played again.

Panky...the Beeb did mention this news...it just took longer to verify the source, that all.

Do you think that every media outlet in the world should coordinate all their reports, so that they appear at exactly the same second ?
