I saw a comment on another forum. No comments about Daily Mail please. It just seems very poignant. Why are the above people not offering accommodation to British homeless off the streets of UK? The pictures on last nights news of hordes of people trying to storm Hungary was not a pretty picture. Side note: UK comes in for a lot of stick on this subject. Why no praise for the almosr i billion of aid we have given to the camps in Turkey?

It's all very well offering your home but there is a lot more to it than that. Who will pay for hospitals, schools and the rest of the infrastructure required let alone the dole handouts?

We the tax payer that is who whilst the luvvies all get a 'warm' feeling that they have done everything.

as the writer says, it's all very well seeing it on the news, you have to be there to see what it's really like. the writer uses words ruder than "bottom" so careful if offended by robust language.

'Ordered' is not what what David Cameron did. It is the Daily Express's interpretation, not shared by most other commentators. The PM saying we should make them welcome, is not an order, it is a suggestion.

No. You are jumping to two conclusions.
1. That anyone will take priority. Schools don't do that.
2. That the Syrian refugees will go to a struggling school. They probably won't.

that's not how i read YMB's post Gromit - I assumed "struggling school" to be in the context of the underlying issue in the thread of increased numbers; ie struggling as in "grossly oversubscribed".

How can the UK offer any refugees a home in the UK? There is a housing shortage and a very long waiting list. Will these refugees be jumping the queue? Shouldn't they go to the back of the queue to be fair to those on the waiting list?
