Did anyone watch this after Little Britain last night 9.30 on BBC3.  I just didnt get it - what was the sketch with the four women around the table about? wearing no knickers rubbing their bums over the others.  Have I missed something - is it a take on another programme???

many sketch shows have no real point, they are meant to just be funny and work on no other level.the sketch you mentioned being a classic example.

little britain is another example.

Have to say that we watched it and we were as bemused as you, kazarooney!!  Didn't really find it that funny either, no comparison to Little Britain, which is hilarious  x
Little Britain, in my opinion, has lost it. It is too mainstream now. Too repetitive and just doesn't make me laugh. I'm bored. A group of middle class needleworkers, wearing no knickers and rubbing their bums past each other for no apparent reason, on the other hand, does! We need the surreal in comedy. We NEED some fresh blood to join the likes of Chris Morris, Julia Davis, Ricky Gervais and the "jam" and "league of gentlemen" team. I am SO fed up hearing people simply repeat 'parrot fashion' what was said on the latest 'in' comedy last night, and the problem is that many writers get lazy because they stick with their tried and tested routines. The REAL genius in comedy is breaking boundaries.

I thought the programme completely failed in what it was supposed to do, i.e. be funny. There is no point in pushing the boundaries of comedy if what you come up with does not make you laugh. The prodramme had a bout 5 different characters doing the same thing throughout the 1/2 hour, things that weren't funny the first time. It was almost as bad as Catherine Tate!

come on, wake up! this was great comedy. At last a breath of fresh air. Im fed up with the cliche comedy at the moment. Copmedi is geting darket and this is a fine example. I will admit, not all the characters didnt work but there are some good charcters in there. This is a comedy that will grow on people, exactly like league of gentlemen and little britain. its also refreshing to see women leading the front line in a comedy show.

I agree with jodypody. Not every character did work, but that's normal. Also, there are probably others who found the characters I didn't laugh at (eg The darts team) hilarious. Comedy is subjective after all. A lot of comedy is in the repetition. For example, that damned annoying "little Dennis Waterman" on Little Britain! God I HATE that and find it annoying and pointless, but because the "write the theme tune, sing the theme tune" line is repeated, sometimes - despite my hatred for it - I smile! On the point of comedy not working if all it does is push the boundaries, this, to a point is true. Comedy is supposed to make us laugh. But, if you look at programmes such as Nighty Night (which has won numerous awards), The Office (ditto), and any of Chris Morris's highly acclaimed work, this is comedy which makes us 'uncomfortable'. With some sketches, you feel you shouldn't really be laughing as it's disturbing, or dealing with a very dark subject, but, despite yourself (well, me anyway!) you can't help it. It is funny. Very funny in some cases. And it's OK to laugh at it. Once you open the big heavy door to macabre, it's shocking just how funny it really is. This is what I mean by pushing boundaries. There's no point at all in being disturbing or provocative just to shock if it's just not funny, but, by constantly pushing people a little further, new comedy moves on. If this weren't done regulary, we'd still be tittering at Benny Hill, and Mike Yarwood, and the "alternative comedians" our our time (eg Ben Elton, Rik Mayall, Roy Chubby Brown, Billy Connelly) would never have happened in the first place. They allowed comedy to change - and even they were considered almost 'evil' at the time! If this hadn't happened, the likes of Catherine Tate would be hailed as a genius - and THAT just ISN'T funny!!!
My god, it is a classic in the making! After accidently watching it, me and my friends (who also caught it) loved it! especially the exabitionist cleaner (Dont look at me, im very boring!) who was particualry fantastic! i love the woman with to much plastic surgeory, and even the butch dart player ('Im on the same combintation of pills as kerry catatonia, and look what happend with her and brian'). The ladies bottemless knitting club at first went over my head but it repetions soon made us all laughing! searching the BBC3 website, i soon found what i wanted, a picture of the cleaner for my msn picture, i certainly hope it will be on again soon!
I have seen it twice now & believe me it grows on you. The first time I saw it I was sitting with my mouth open wondering what was going on. The second time I was laughing I nodding!  The maid sketch will catch on I am already saying "don't look at me, I'm boring" The sewing circle had me & my daughter leaning back in our seat!! lol And I agree that all great sketch shows have a few weak characters but the rest carry them. I think this show will go from strength to strength.  The male character, Tony Way, is excellent in all his scenes. The series is being filmed now & will be screened very soon.

I have to say I loved Tittybangbang, my partner and I caught the first screening by accident and recorded the second showing a week later.  We have it on Sky+ and have watched it over and over, howling with laugher each time.  Like most of you I thought there were some weak characters, but more importantly there were some fantastic ones.  Maxine Bendix - plastic slapper - is by far my favourite, followed very closely by The Italian Lady... don't look at me... Special mention must go to Don the Geordie who likes Piddlein on his ladies!  It is off the wall stuff, but then as already mentioned the likes of Little Britain, the League of Gentlemen and to some extent Catherine Tate are also off the wall but still work incredibly well and are very popular.  These things take time to take off, but I have a feeling that the school yards and offices around the UK will soon be replacing yeah but not but yeah but shut up with Dont look at me, its so boreing,,, or its just a little bit of seepage or even I do like to have a little wee wee on mi ladies.  I loved this pilot and hope to see a full blown series very soon, although this time I think BBC3 should get their marketing machine into action and do more than surreptitiously slip it in to their schedule at midnight!

Tittybangbang must rate as one of the worst programmes ever. What was the point of it? It was just not funny and really got on my nerves.....

I really like Catherine Tate's show as she is genuinely talented, can act and IS funny.......
