I found this slow and a bit boring. Did the children ever find out where their father was?

The Inspector Morse books and Agatha Christie novels are far more enthralling than the subsequent televising. I remember a few years ago looking forward to a dramatisation of Christie's 'Murder Is Easy', one of her very few crime novels not to feature either Poirot or Miss Marple. I rate it as her best work, a real page turner, yet on TV Miss Marple was written into the story. It was rather tame and the ending was nothing like the cliffhanger one in the book.
