Have done the national lottery from the beginning but as of today I am opting out as Camelot have changed the chances of winning from one in 14 million to one in 45 million plus much lower chances of winning the smaller amounts too. Camelot owned by a Canadian investment Company. We should have given it to Richard Branson when the last contract to run the lottery was negotiated. My money will go into a jar instead .Will still have a stake in he Euro Millions and support the Health Lottery too. Anybody else opting out. Would love to see a mass protest.Camelot needs to be punished.

Opted out when it went from £1 to £2, still do Thunderball
the millions of people (myself included) who have used the same numbers from draw one cannot now win the jackpot if there's a number over 49 drawn

Oh yes I hadn't thought about that. I have had same numbers too.yet another reason to leave .
What I love about Camelot is that their executives give themselves bonuses!

BONUSES!!!! What for?????

A national lottery is a licence to print money, how could you not make anything but a massive profit?

Next week - Camelot pay execs a bonus for breathing in and out ....
I stopped playing when the price went from £1 to £2. As you say Patsy, maybe Richard Branson should've been given the contract.
Andy - how dare you make such a comment .

1.They have to come up with various ways of making the punters buy the tickets .

2. They have to compete against their competi... erm , ok

3. They have to think up different games

OK - indeed yes , must be one of the cushiest ' jobs' on the planet
Don't quite understand your thinking, patsyann. You are ceasing to play the Lotto because the odds are now 45m+/1 yet will play the Euromillions whose odds are 116,531, 800/1?
Must admit that my initial reaction was the same as yours when i heard what they were doing. However, i am one of those players who have used the same numbers since November 1994 and, having given it some thought, i realise it will be nigh on impossible not to catch the results from time to time. So myself and the rest of my little syndicate have decided to carry on playing (at least until the end of the year, when we will have another discussion) which is, of course, just what Camelot are banking on.
I might have missed been a millionaire or missed getting a big payout .

Reason being i use the same numbers , but i haven't always checked my tickets over the years .

Is there any way to check to see if my numbers have ever come up ?
^^

Also forgot to point out that if you play the Euro, patsy, you are still adding to Camelot's coffers, far from punishing them.
Bazile, why on earth would you want to discover that you have missed out on a jackpot win?!
But, to answer your question, you could always write to Camelot and ask them for a list of winning numbers for the last 21 years:-)
ken

So i don't have to keep buying a ticket each week ?
Question Author
Yes I can se your point Ken4155. Actually i have had many more little wins on the Euro draw than lotto so will see how things go.
Bazile
they e-mail you if you have won,
why play if you cant be bothered to check your wins on there web site anyway
Can I be the only person in the country who has never bought a lottery ticket - of any kind- in their whole life?
ivor; they only email you if you have played on line.
Bazile, best you don't know as it would be too late to claim. I enter on line and if you win they email you next day.
i don't get excited when i get a 'good news about your euro ticket' email ... i already know that it's less than a fiver :-)

Well that's the dilemma .

If my numbers have come up in the past then it would be extremely unlikely that the same numbers would come up again .

But if i don't know , then i'm 'forced' to carry on using the same numbers , cos they might come up in the future , if they haven't come up already - if you see what i mean
I use same numbers too. They occasionally get £25. I know I am probably never win big, but by entering there is still a chance. I have picked new numbers for future now with the up to 59 change.
grasscarp - but your old fixed numbers might still come up - isn't it still 6 numbers required for the jackpot ?
