There are many but my personal favourite would have to be Apollo 13.
Too many nd how far do you wan't to go back in History ?
Battle of Britain
Mrs Minerva
Went the day Well
In which we serve
I realise they are all 2nd World War films but do highlight life on the home front which involves the stoicism of women and also portays the men at the battlefront.
We did tend to be shown at our best when we were faced with adversity in the past.
Can't see that spirit returning in my lifetime.
tend to be at our best
forgotten "went the day well" - classic movie retro.
TTT
Yes. A young Gordon Jackson in it, if my memory serves, who later was in Upstairs Downstairs and The Professionals.
I swear that the more modern film story "The Eagle has Landed" was copied fom "Went the Day Well".
Is this your own track, youseeold? The YouSee Old track doesn't seem to relate to your question
^^^^ US history maybe FF
retrocop

Ah yes, "Went the day Well" a superb film it was on over the weekend but I missed it, lucky though I had the DVD so watched it over again.

Another favourite of mine, 'Zulu'.
Empire of the Sun
Mr aog
Cave.. It is not done to favour a film such as "Zulu" here.It shows Great Britain and its Imperialism. May cause offence to see a portrayal of British History. :-(
I can still remember being taken, with the whole class by our school teacher Miss Taylor to see Scott of the Antarctic with John Mills as Scott, and James Roberson Justice as Taff Evans. I was aged about 6 or 7 and remember vividly that she cried although she was hard as nails in class. Lawrence of Arabia was another film that stands out. I am surprised that Tora Tora Tora hasn't been on to flag up the film about pearl harbour. LOL.
yes Tora x 3 was a great film much better than the later "pearl Harbour" but thinking about it I was trying to think beyond WW2 films really, Zulu of course a classic, Ben Hur, Cromwell, Anne of a thousand days, mutiny on the bounty, all spectacular but the sheer brilliance of Apollo 13 makes it tough to beat for me.
