Have been using this product for many years but then had a letter re compo as it appears there were irregularities in their paperwork. Is it worth carrying on using this product as it appears your bank in fact, covers you for all the cases that Sentinel does. Because of my age I get a bit confused these days over the complicated paperwork they send out.

I also received the letter, I read the contents and agree with what they said. I cancelled Sentinel sent off the form and received a cheque for over £150.00 You are correct in your thinking that your bank covers most of what Sentinel covered, I looked at what Sentinel covered and came to the conclusion that my bank and home insurance covered most of what they were covering, my advice to you is complete the form receive the refund and enjoy spending it .
Martin Lewis advised about this a few weeks ago. He said it definitely isn't a scam and to claim.
BJS...do as KJN advises.

The late MrG must have had Sentinel protection at some point....he died eight years ago.
I received the letter from Sentinel telling me I was entitled to compensation as we'd had a joint account.
I almost binned the letter but filled it in.....then the second form which followed......very easy....and I recieved £100+ a few weeks ago.....☺
If you have been invited to make a claim and have been sent the relevant claim form, you have till March 2016 to return it. We are going to wait till after Christmas to return ours.
OH got almost £300 a few weeks ago, he was going to ignore the latest letter but Martin Lewis changed his mind.

Thank you for all the informative replies and will not be renewing my subscription. When you returned your claim forms what sort of wording did you use to back up the claim. Again thanks for any advice.
If you use the link given by hc, there will somewhere be templates to use, just copy the one out of the two that is applicable to your circumstances.
Hi BJS.......I didn't have to say much......the few questions they asked on the form were almost enough....

I just added that the benefits I was sold by Sentinel were already available at no charge from my bank....therefore I had been miss-sold.........x
Quite so, gness.

Card Protection Insurance is akin to Payment Protection Insurance. It is totally unnecessary and those who bought it have wasted their money. I suppose in that sense they've been mis-sold but I wonder just how much research they might have done before buying a fairly expensive product. Similarly PPI has cost the banks billions and no doubt the suits who devised the scam have long since departed with a wheelbarrow full of shareholders' cash. So it is (albeit hopefully to a lesser degree) with card insurance.

The next mis-selling scam to hit the fan will probably be "extended warranties". Again these are mainly totally unnecessary as consumer protection law covers most of what they do.

Thank you all once again for your posts. This site for a thick old wrinklie like myself is so helpful due the advice posted. Just a side issue to this question but of the same theme. Back in about 1994-6 we had a fitted kitchen put in and had to take a loan out and I am sure we took out a payment insurance cover for this. Is this covered by this PPI recovery scheme that is ongoing.
Yes.

Thank you for that johnny37. Can anyone advise me of a reputable no win/no fee company to contact.
You dont need to involve a claims company to claim for PPI mis-selling. All you need to do is write to the company stating your details. They have a duty to check whether you had PPI and whether it was suitable for you. If you dont agree you dont have to accept the decision. You can complain to the Ombudsman for arbitration. Reasons could be you werent aware you were being charged for it, you did not need it or you could not claim on it anyway (eg if you were self employed, your job was so safe you did not need it).
Look at Money Savings Expert website where you will find a standard claim letter. Act now as there may be a closing date.
