Sexed Up Dramas

Tomorrow on BBC i we have a sexed up adaptation of War and Peace, last week Agatha Christie got steamy and druggie do you enjoy these versions or would you prefer the original stories!

You can't really do justice to a novel by dramatising it. The Agatha Christie stuff though I'd possibly an exception as they aren't really ' ovels' as such but cardboard cut out puzzles with one dimensional characters
If you are a fan of War and Peace the novel then the arrogant Andrew Davies's version, which it sounds like he's using as another excuse to project his obsession with sex, is probably one to avoid

Indeed so. Hearing Andrew Davies trying to claim he's done anything other than fashion a good old soft porn bodice ripper out of W and P is actually quite funny.
No one minds: just be honest about it

And of course with the Christie they changed the name (twice) and the plot, so a wee bit of steaminess seems trivial by comparison

I never watch any drama, or detective series when I've read and enjoyed the book. My imagination never coincides with the film makers and mine is better!

Well we can watch Ten Little Indians on ITV3 with Ollie Reed and Richard Attenborough tomorrow night by way of a change.

If dumbing down and sexing up a literary work helps its appeal to the masses that can only be a good thing. It might encourage some to read the book.

The trouble with that is they then find the book boring. I very much agree with roopower on this
