If you are getting cold calls on your mobile phone or home phone, register with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) www.tpsonline.org.uk if the cold callers are still calling after 28 days report them to Information Commissioners Office (ICO) www.ico.org.uk

I hope this information helps, the TPS is a free service.

Unfortunately most of theses calls originate from outside the UK, usually India, using 'spoofed' telephone numbers, and therefore are not regulated by the TPS or the ICO.

Brilliant service. I might receive a couple of calls a year now, compared to a couple a day. The MPS mail preference service is equally useful and brilliant. Long live the preference services!
