The thing I find strange is that the majority are not working too so they could quite easily make it to the dentist - unlike me that has just a few minutes ago had to jump through hoops to get time off for my appointment - and I even offered to take unpaid leave too !!!!

The abandonment of simple dental maintenance is merely symptomatic of the larger malaise at work in the majority of Mr Kyle's guests - the aforementioned abdication of responsibility for concepts like self-respect, dignity, willingness to act like a mature adult - and so on, the list goes on.

The dental inadequacies are merely a signpost to bigger issues at work.

You are presuming levels of self-respect and responsibility which these people simply don't have.

They are people that things happen to - they take no control or responsibility for their lives and what happens to them.

It's sad, really sad, but that is the way the majority of them live.

My grandad lost all his teeth at the age of 26. They thought he had gum disease....turned out he had stomach ulcers...

My dad had missing teeth. A few from getting whacked with a hurley stick and a few from a car accident.

But neither ever had reason to want DNA or lie detector tests...

Its a bit like those parents who wear their nightwear for the school run. Your not telling me they have washed and then put their nighties back on to take their kids to school (I know its not nighties but you all know what I mean)

Ummmm - my Mum and Dad both had their teeth out fairly young - I think it was the thing to do way back when - neither would be seen dead (literally in Dads case) without their dentures

I am not suggesting that people who have missing teeth are Jeremy Kyle candidates - I am saying that Jeremy Kyle candidates with missing teeth have missing teeth as part of a wider malaise in the way they live their lives.

The issue is not missing teeth per se - it's the lifestyle and outlook that it points to for participants on Mr Kyle's TV version of bear-baiting.

I hope that's cleared up any misunderstanding.

My gramps was 26 when he had his teeth removed. I'd never seen him with dentures. They went missing and my nan found them a few years later in my aunts toy handbag :-)

My dad didn't wear dentures either even though he had some.
