seems Mattel are about to make the "thomas" brand more accessible to world markets with a string of new diverse characters. some of the comments (thinklines) in this guardian piece are a masterclass of politically correctness.....

I predict older established engines will be shunted off to a siding and end their days as shambolic figures, sitting with a coal truck on a piece of string to encourage charity from shinier, sexier models brought in to blow away traditions and outmoded practices.
