When I first saw Oberon it was a shock, but he played the part magnificently.
Puck was wonderfully expressive too with all the visual effects very exiting.

Khandro - please accept my apologies for reading too much into your OP. I took it at first reading to be a complaint, rather than the request for opinion I now believe it to be, hence the Q in my reply.
I'll be boring & reiterate how astonishingly good & (I've never had cause to use this phrase before) life-affirming I thought this production was - I wish I'd recorded it to keep & will be looking out for a repeat to do just that. :-))

Though there any many references to kissing in Shakespeare, e.g. Romeo;"My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss." they are implied, rather than carried out in full mouth to mouth fashion, and certainly not by two gals.
It might say something about me, but I never really like to watch on-screen kissing whatever the sexes involved, (and certainly not faux-bonking) I find I'm being placed into a voyeur status.
It would have still been a fabulous production without deviating from the intended plot.
Exits stage left to booing.
