It was more than acceptable , the whole thing was amazing, brilliant and all the other superlatives.
Unfortunately one of the characters is called Bottom!
Perfectly acceptable. In my opinion, this was one of the finest things I've ever seen. In *every* respect - the writing, direction, acting, sound - everything.

Is that observation *really* the only thing you took from it?
Hated it - turned off after 10 minutes.
I didn't watch the play, but yes, under any circumstance its acceptable.
I agree with everything Mamy and the Lie-in King say. The whole thing was totally brilliant, from start to finish. Well done the 'Beeb' for giving us something a little different.
And, to answer the question posed, yes.
Fell asleep about 40 mins in, but it looked brilliant to me !
Got it recorded.

It was absolutely brilliant in every aspect, it was one of those productions that make you feel as though everyone involved was totally committed and thoroughly enjoying themselves, I think Matt Lucas must have been waiting to play that part all his career.
When I first saw Oberon it was a shock, but he played the part magnificently.
Puck was wonderfully expressive too with all the visual effects very exiting.
Khandro - please accept my apologies for reading too much into your OP. I took it at first reading to be a complaint, rather than the request for opinion I now believe it to be, hence the Q in my reply.

I'll be boring & reiterate how astonishingly good & (I've never had cause to use this phrase before) life-affirming I thought this production was - I wish I'd recorded it to keep & will be looking out for a repeat to do just that. :-))
I watched the first few minutes and it looked brilliant......recorded so I can curl up and enjoy it on a rainy day.....like today....

Seems from the posts, Khandro that it will be well worth watching....x
Fat chance of ever seeing it out here ....someone want to send me a copy please xx
Hi seekz! Hope this works -

If it does, turn the phone off & enjoy! x
Lie-in, as always you're a treasure, it's almost my bedtime but it will be a treat for tomorrow xx
Question Author
Lie-in King; That's OK, but if seekeerz is outside the UK she won't be able to watch it, she will, like me get a still from the play, with the message 'BBC iPlayer only works in the UK' superimposed. I wish it were not so.
I had a vague feeling that might be the case, but worth a try & it's there for anyone, should they want to use it.
never like to see that things are only availble in certain countries, makes a mockery of calling it the
world wide web
doesn't it?

Will contact neighbour whose daughter is in Oz and see if she can advise, might take some time tho.

Though there any many references to kissing in Shakespeare, e.g. Romeo;"My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss." they are implied, rather than carried out in full mouth to mouth fashion, and certainly not by two gals.
It might say something about me, but I never really like to watch on-screen kissing whatever the sexes involved, (and certainly not faux-bonking) I find I'm being placed into a voyeur status.
It would have still been a fabulous production without deviating from the intended plot.
Exits stage left to booing.
"Exits stage left to booing."

Never a bear around when you need one... ;-)
