I though Ritchie Scott was A Solicitor. I wasn't watching closely tonight as I had family round but didn't she take the Barristers role tonight?

Solicitors have had the right of audience in Crown Courts since 1994. (They have to seek approval first and also comply with additional regulatory standards, which are currently set down by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority's Quality Assurance Scheme for Advocates (Crime) Regulations 2013). So solicitors often take on a role which was previously the preserve of barristers.
