The deal that was on offer looked pretty reasonable as a compromise, although I didn't study it in detail so perhaps there was some fine print that would justify rejecting the deal. Or not. Either way, there have been better times for such a dispute to drag on and on and on.

this particular efficiency drive involves doing routine lists and clinics ( emergencies unaffected ) cost neutrally ( no extra money for seven day working than you get for five ) without X ray or labs ......

ie only 45% really wanted to be doctors in the first place. Or 55% realised that they weren't up to it. I wonder what their plans are now? Politics? Advertising? Sports therapy degree? Teaching? They cant all join Charities can they?
