Noisy Neighbours - Just Curious
26 Answers
I live in a terraced house with a small garden which I love. On one side is a family of 5 adults - the parents, and 3 kids in their 30's including one with Down's syndrome who is a lovely lad. But none of them have any concept of noise. The dad drinks like a fish and can pick arguments with the garden wall. Today they had visitors who must have had a teeny baby as one of the adults decide to amuse it by pretending to throw up. Imagine the notice when you are being violently sick- He did this over and over for an hour. I had visitors and they were almost retching the sound was so bad. I just didn't know what to do. They are lovely people but you just cannot sit on your garden and enjoy it. My hubby says leave well alone and just ignore it but it's so hard. Its now 9pm and they are effing and blinding at each other at the top of their voices. Just interested in opinions guys xx

If it was loud music, I'd suggest asking them nicely to turn it down, but you can't really ask people not to talk loudly in their garden.
Is this a different family from the one with the trampoline?

Difficult. Three of the gardens which surround mine have got young children and none of the families seem to have any idea of teaching children not to scream...I am not talking about the noise children make in play, I am talking about screaming. This makes my dogs bark which not only means they are stressed but is not very nice for my close neighbours either side with whom i have excellent relationships. I have made loud comments to the dogs about their not being allowed to shout back when the children are noisy and this has had some effect on one family....but I agree, difficult.
You can't do or say anything since it is during the day - do think noise has to be abated at 12 midnight or thereafter.
I have extremely noisy neighbours who when they have their grand-children - scream and scream at them with joy (not anger). You know "ya ha".
Now if deaf lugs can hear them then they are really noisy. Also sista thinks it is very bad when she comes on Sunday. When they are screaming I can look out the front of the house and see other neighbours staring over.
