Did Tracey Ullman ever do one of the voices for a character from the simpsons ?

Not as far as I know - but the Simpsons did make its TV debut as a short cartoon within the Tracey Ullman Show. Is this what you are thinking if?

Yes she did ! According to imdb she played Emily Winthrop in the episode "Bart's Dog Gets An F".

If that doesn't ring a bell, she was the sadistic Barbara Woodhouse-style dog trainer.
