For me it was a crap end to a crap and pretentious series. All those shouts of Mari and she didn't appear - what do you think happened....cos it sure as heck wasn't clear?

I enjoyed it. She left him ?
Brilliant acting. Not sure of the ending. Think his wife ran off with the mate.
She was his rock. His safe place. The only thing that saved him from being bad all the time. A mirror if you will. And she left him. Brilliant acting (apart from the prosecution barrister who surname I presume is Oak).
We were left wondering what that was all about. A bit of an unsatisfactory ending. We don't know what happened with the daughter and whether he did actually rape Rebecca and the other girl.

I think Mari might have left him because she didn't believe him.
It would seem that he at least raped the short haired girl as was shown in the flash back at the caravan and his friend and Mari knew about it ... or at least his friend did. When Mari was in bed with said friend she tried to get him to tell allin court but he didn't and I think that was part of the reason he disappeared. He was a nasty bit of work using his fame to his own advantage. I did wonder if he had abused his daughter and could not make my mind up about that. A compelling series in my opinion...but I prefer a cut and dried ending!!
SHE disappeared....
Each time I watched this programme I had a celebrity's name in my head. Odd .
Which celebrity, anneasquith? I don't expect you to tell me, but give a hint?
don't even think of it if the celebrity is still alive and has lawyers...
No names, that would be very unfair, just felt it from the very begining of the series.
Jno. I'm not that daft :-)
I enjoyed the series on the whole.

As always, I find Robbie Coltrane mesmerising.

I liked the imagery of the last frames - Finchley framed by his huge house, symbol of his success and fame, shouting plaintively for the person who makes it all worthwhile, and she has gone.
I think it was a brilliant ending - it was all for nothing as his rock was gone!
But I wanted to know, did he rape those girls, and did he do anything to his daughter.

I love Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters, otherwise I wouldn't have watched it. Not my thing really.
I thought his utter desolation at the end was excellent - brilliant actor. I enjoyed this series.
I think he definitely raped the girl in his trailer. The babysitter was 'taken advantage of' I think - but she was almost 'asking for it' - in my opinion.

I agree.

I know this is a drama, but it does reflect an attitude in society, that women and girls do 'throw themselves' at celebrities - that's part of the Ched Evans defence.

I think it would be nice if celebrities could be human, mature, and simply decent enough to understand that just because a stranger 'throws herself' at you, you are not obliged to 'catch' her!
Surely it would be rude not to ?

Your flippant response merely underlines my point - everyone thinks of this as a 'perk of the job', a 'bit of fun' - but often it becomes something far more sinister.
