QuizmasterG - //Why have professional judges on the programme and then rely on the "numpties on the net" to decide? - nothing to do with the huge phone revenue coming in I suppose? //
Both are entirely linked to the entertainment value of the programme, and to be honest, no-one involved is pretending this is anything like a serious dance context.
Craig Revel-Horwood consistently gives a professional critique of points based on years of professional experience, and a studio audience who know as much about the finer points dance technique as they do about the dark side of the moon, boo him like he's a pantomime villain!
This same audience whoops and claps every time a couple make a move that is anything other than putting one foot in front of the other - and once again such rapture is not based on the slightest inkling of whether what they have seen is actually any good, or difficult, or worthy of any merit whatsoever.
But that is television. It's entertainment for the family on a Saturday night - there is no point looking for deeper meanings beneath the surface, there aren't any - it's all surface and nothing else!!
Tess Daly is seriously hot though!!!
