I don't know i myself, but I remembered this question from a while back.

I think he used to say "I'll have a half, Jacko". It was aimed at the character played by Jack Smethurst, who was called Jack in the series. I think.
I think this saying was in "Love Thy Neighbour", which was shown during the 1970's. From what i remember, Eddie Booth's (Jack Smethurst) mate would always say this, when asked what he wanted in the pub.
The character was a guy who wore an old grey mac, and I can pictur him now, was it Joe Gladwin?

Love Thy Neighbour. Jacko , played by Keith Marsh, was the old boy who always used to say 'I'll av arf' whenever a round was proposed when the guys were in the Jubilee Social Club. Jack Smethurst was the lead character called Eddie Booth. The other in the trio was Tommy Godfrey who played Arthur.

Referring to Nearest and Dearest , I don't think Eli had a catchphrase but there was one old guy called Walter who was in every week and Nellie always used to say 'has he been?'

Showing my age!

Keith Marsh I think it must have been, working on the theory of elimination
