Not really. It's a bit lighter now, but it was another of those shot in the darkness for most of part one and that is a straight put-off for me.

just watch the 1957 movie

It was written as a play, not a novel. The original film ends with him being acquitted. He then admits his guilt as he can't be tried twice and spurns the woman who discredited herself to save him. She picks up a dagger and stabs him to death. The lawyer says he will take on her defence.

The 1950s film was so much better. It stuck to Agatha Christie's excellent storyline. This week's adaption was a poor substitute.

Sarah Phelps went back to the original short story - Christie changed the ending for the stage version and Billy Wilder used the stage version ending.
