Laptop Volume Problems

I have a new HP laptop, from the outset I have had problems with the sound. Every time I play video on E mail links or on the internet the volume slowly decreases down to mute. Is there something I've done wrong before I send the laptop back.

Have you tried system restore to an earlier date when the sound was working ok.

Thank you, but the issue has been there from the outset. I've already done a factory reset when I couldn't download updates.
