Replacement For Plusnet Router Tg582N??

I want to replace my ageing Plusnet Technicolor TG582N Router, mainly to hopefully improve our wi-fi experience. We have "regular" broadband via phone line but one day may upgrade to fibre. Netgear was the brand name my previous router, and was reliable so I'd be happy with that make, but am open to suggestions. looking to spend sub £100 and ideally sub £70. I've googled and see there are "many" Netgear models. Narrowed it down a bit to two D6000, D6200. Reviews on Amazon are a bit confusing as I think Amazon show reviews for various other models not just the one selected. In short I want to make sure whatever I buy works via normal phone line, and can work with Fibre if we later upgrade. One review seemed to suggest this is not possible with the D6200. Appreciate any help re Netgear or other brands (TP-Link???). Thanks

One tends to want one or the other so the extra expense for functionality that doesn't get used, wouldn't be worth it. Now I'm fairly sure someone will post a list of routers that do to prove me wrong, but hey ho.
I think most of the big names are worth considering; I've had a few over the years. Best check out the most recent comparison sites to see what the experts are keen on at present.

How are you hoping to "improve our wi-fi experience"? A new router won't provide any faster speeds. If it's better coverage you're hoping for, a booster or extender unit would be a better option. Further, if you later switched to a cabled service, your ISP would almost certainly provide you with a new router for it anyway.

Thanks for responses. In a previous post I mentioned problem with my laptop struggling to work via wi-fi, it's ok on ethernet cable. I tried suggested fixes to no avail. I recently paid a local techie to hopefully sort it, but still same. He suggested might be my router. I was in touch with Plusnet about separate matter but mentioned the wi-fi problem, and he also recommended I buy a third party router as by his own admission, the Plusnet one was not very good. Various reviews on Amazon talk of improved wi-fi since replacing their ISP supplied router. I should add though that it is only my laptop that is failing on wi-fi via this router, although we do not enjoy good internet connection, dropping out etc. I was hopeful that a better router might help that.
I can't find the previous thread you referred to. (Perhaps you tagged your question onto someone else's thread). However, if you're having problems getting a laptop to connect wirelessly to a router, the very first thing to do is to reset the TCP/IP stack.
If you've not done that yet, here's how to do it. (I'm assuming that you've got Windows 10, as you've mentioned it previously):
Go Start > All Apps > Windows System
RIGHT-click on Command Prompt.
Select Run As Administrator
Type 'netsh winsock rest' (without the quote marks)
Press Enter
Type 'netsh int ip reset' (again without the quote marks)
Press Enter
You'll see various messages, including some (e.g. 'Access Denied') which might suggest that it's not worked but the important bit has been done.
Restart your laptop and see if things have improved.
If that doesn't work, the next thing to try is changing the channel on your router:
To do that, open any web browser.
Type 192.168.1.25 into the address bar and hit Enter.
Enter the username and password for your router. (The username will be 'admin'. The password is on sticker on the bottom of your router; it will look like 'CPYYWWPPXXX' and is case-sensitive).
Click 'Home Network' on the left-hand menu.
Under 'Wireless', click 'WLAN: PlusnetWireless'
Click 'Configure'
Click 'Details'
That will show you the current settings for your router. From there you should find an option to select a different channel.
If the 'techie' who advised you to change your router didn't suggest the above he's got no right to call himself a 'techie'!

Re Buenchico - Update re: I tried the first test, but still same. Some websites could be obtained, others resulted in "This site cannot be found" message.
Carried out the second test: This showed the router channel was set to "automatic". I changed this to manual and then had the option of 13 channels to choose from. I began by trying channel 2, no improvement. Sorry if this is a daft question, but do I simply go through the remaining channels, seeing if any bring about a result, or is there a way of "knowing" which might be the ones to try? It'll be tomorrow before I get a chance to try more channels. Thanks again, really appreciate the help
