Is that that slave drama from the 1970's?
It is based on the same book, Lynne, but is a brand new series.
I thought it was good for the first episode.
I never saw it, but it sounds like another 'White Guilt' show
Yes Lynn, Roots should never have been made, best to pretend this sort of thing never happened.

The same way that the majority of the American population didn't want slavery - never happened; the same way that arabs kept slaves (the Barbary Coast Pirates) - never happened;
The same way that people from the British mainland were kidnapped and sold into slavery by the said Barbary Coast Pirates - never happened;
The same way that slaves from Africa were rounded up and sold by their fellow-Africans - never happened -
The same way that it was white people that did away with slavery -
never happened

Let's keep on pushing the narrative that only white people were responsible for slavery. After all, none of the above imposes any White Guilt
I've put it on series record, I'll try not to compare it to the book or earlier series.
Lynne, we all know that slavery is alive and kicking today and that there has always been slavery throughout the world.
Roots is based on one aspect of slavery and that is the topic for discussion here.
I agree with you Lynn, it was blacks rounding up blacks for slavery.

I only got round to watching this last night.

Whilst I agree with Lynn_M, I’m not interested in Roots as a factual or historical programme, just as a story/drama.
Most dramas that are based on fact are usually given ‘poetic licence’ to make them more watchable.
