oh ho, this programme is on every day and the teams win or lose a lot, so where does the money thats left over go.

sorry yes if they win, but the antiques expert may not use all the capital that he / she has over on the bonus buy. Just wondering as this amounts to lots of money every day. Perhaps i should ask the BBC. they are not the only programme that seems to use public money for a jolly.

The BBC doesn't make Bargain Hunt,like many TV programmes now it is made by an independent production company.So any monies involved are part of the production budget that is charged to the BBC.

old bather thanks forthe info, i just wondered if the BBC was slinging our licence fee down the drain. I like bargain hunt, but it seems to have a lot of money every day.

this kind of program is comparatively cheap to make. small camera crew, easy editing, no location charges, no fees for competitors. Having said that, I cannot see what the diference is between the beeb making the program itself and giving money to the contestants, and ther paying a commercila firm, part of whose costs will be money to give the contestants

I know it's on everyday but it's generally repeats. They are not spending 3300 every day of the year.

And judging by the great reductions in price that some sellers give, it would seem that some of the costs are also borne by them.

emmie,The ironic thing is,that as the BBC has programmes made for it by an independent production company;these same programmes (such as Bargain Hunt) probably cost more than if the BBC made them themselves.This is because in general the BBC is controlled by accountants.They need to know exactly how much a series will cost(end to end),and cannot stand the "open ended" budget that a BBC "home made" would be.
Much like me making a new kitchen for you, I say its £15,000 all in.But if I go weekly to B&Q,and do it in stages it will only cost £10,000.I hope this make sense?

AOG,yes I agree with you,some reductions are a bit steep.If you want to see reductions that are unreal and would take your breath away,then watch Antiques Road Trip (same production company as Bargain Hunt BTW).

You mentioned Antiques Road Trip, so while we are on that subject and taking into consideration the recent purge on mobile phone usage whilst driving.

How do the antique celebrities get away with their standard of driving, regularly we see them fooling about and taking their eyes off the road etc, whilst driving?

Very often the car is on a low loader for part of the filming, giving the impression the person behind the wheel is driving.

they do muck about a lot, and who supplies the cars they drive i wonder, and how much they spend/waste on travelling round the country to flog their wares
