OK, John Bishop has a go - what do we think?

At least he told his own jokes, appalling though they were!

The format got in the way again - he had to interrupt a bemused Roger Daltrey to shoehorn in a seriously unfunny sketch with Bishop as Madonna - that running 'gag' needs to be dropped right now.

And he was so nervous that at times, only dogs could hear the higher notes of his voice, and he needs to remember that he has a microphone and doesn't need to project to the back of the workingmen's club concert room any more.

Still dreadful, but differently dreadful in a morbidly fascinating way.

Any thoughts?

after the fiasco of Walliams i wouldn't consider watching, even though i quite like Bishop.
Have to agree, it's the format that's wrong.

I'm done with it now, whoever is presenting.
It was ten times better than with DW but still pretty awful. I'll definitely be giving it a miss in future.
I quite like JB, but whose ever idea this dressing up is, should be sacked. Totally unfunny, JB is better than that. Love John Daltry's anecdotes though.
who is John Daltry?
Roger Daltrey was the reason I watched :-)
sam

do you mean Roger Daltry.
Sorry sorry sorry , Roger

They have got to drop this 'dressing up' slot - it is terminally unfunny and spoils what passes for continuity for the rest of the show, and it doesn't need any more reasons to be bad, it's got quite enough already.
watched the first ...cringe cringe..Roger Daltrey looked uncomfortable too...
Please bring back the Ten O'clock news, far more entertaining than this hotchpotch of unfunny jokes.
Due to post on here, never bothered to watch this show.

Last night as I switched channels, JB was on with a female guest, and they seemed to be having a bike race around the studio.

More reason now, not to watch it in the future.

trt - I watched the first half, where they actually had the gall to trail Bishop's Kylie impersonation, which was not only not funny, it was actually really creepy.

Someone needs to get a grip of the format of this show - apart from the chat, which is ho-hum, the only other bits are the dreadful 'musical' impersonations, and some silly childish joke or other involving humiliating guests, or, as last night, hooting at the ignorance of teenagers.

Can they also tell Mr Bishop to lower his voice an octave, and stop shouting - he is not in a workingmen's club any more.
mel and sue have refused to host
Question Author
I like John Bishop's comment - that The Nightly Show has been "a learning experience".

So is root canal surgery without anaesthetic!

An 'experience' doesn't have to be a good experience!!

Mel and Sue have seen the way the wind blows and exited stage left - the remaining hosts will wish they had had the same career-saving wisdom.
