No contractors or managers will be quaking in their boots, they only put up what someone else, who got paid a fee, specified. The blame lies with them if it can be proven that they specified something which didn't comply with building regs at the time. A local authority fire officer MAY also have been consulted.

We'll have to agree to disagree as there must be plenty sweaty browns and nervous looks whenever this comes up in the and even so no one wants their workmanship to be linked to these tragedies.

It's nothing to do with workmanship. The product is inherently flammable and should never have been specified. The contractors had no part in the decision to specify it and therefore have no attachment of blame.

Not having read everything, I don't understand how these flammable cladding panels passed safety regulations. What am I missing??

I have a sneaky feeling that 'they' showed 'them' the interior of the cladding was fire-proof and 'them' were impressed. But 'them' never thought to ask 'they' if the covering was inflammable too

I've read it the other way actually - that the outer two layers either side of panel were inflammable but the middle layer was flammable. God knows now.....

no doubt one which could have been avoided, but am sure we will hear the usual platitudes that lesssns will be learned' yaddy yadda, only for them not to be learned. #Well, maybe learned but not acted upon.

IF that fire started in the hotpoint fridge freezer (which has been confirmed by authorities) then if I was the Head of Hotpoint, I'd be blooming worried
