Yes- I didn't answer when this first came up because I couldn't see there would be any controversy anyway.

I wouldn't have thought there would be any controversy with a gay woman dancing with a man myself ... apparently there is controversy over this.

This is the modern world!
Very true, Talbot...
sqad is right, nobody raises an eyebrow if 2 women dance together, but 2 men? Personally, I find 2 men dancing together as funny. Recalling the episode of friends when Mr Treeger was teaching Joey how to dance. I don't understand why a gay person can't dance with a straight person, what difference does it make, it's just dancing.
Men, women, groups all dance together... I don't remember a time when they didn't.
Susan Calman says she was lusting after a man for the first time after being with her male partner. Perhaps the gays are scared that some of their number may turn 'straight' if they have to dance with members of the opposite sex?
I remember the days when girls sat on one side of the dance hall and the lads were on the other side. When the music started the lads would come over and ask a girl to dance. Girls who did not get asked were known as 'wallflowers'. Then they would get up and dance with another girl. Never saw two males dancing together .
andres.......that was my experience.
The "good ones" were picked first. then the "acceptables"...then the acceptables at a a push" ant the women remaining danced with themselves.

Seemed to work BUT in those days it was just male and female...not so simple now ;-)

/// Targeted by the gay community, Talbot, for dancing with the opposite gender and thus betraying them. ///

Isn't that discrimination?
Groups in free dance at the disco is somewhat different to close ballroom stuff. No; outside special clubs, one wouldn't see that.
Probably. But discrimination isn't necessarily wrong, inappropriate discrimination is.

Would cross dressers have the chance to change their costumes during a dance?
Everybody dances together now irrelevant of gender but that's due to the change in dance style as much as anything. Groups of guys dance together in clubs but back in the day it was usual to dance with one partner face to face and understandably two men wouldn't in that era. Girls could as long as they danced round a handbag on the floor.
Don't see why not - they had one celebrity dancing with a doll a few years back.
Dancing was always described as the "vertical expression of the horizontal desire".
So how could two ..........oh! wait a minute....
I think immigration is to blame.
Zacs is correct....I have never danced with a black gay. Is that discrimination?
Not too shabby

I think it is Sqad. If everybody had listened to Enoch Powell all them years ago non of this would be happening, I can tell you.
Oooh yes, we so need a laugh
hc 4361....beautiful, poetic,a lovely image..........
