Would You Become A Vegetarian

If you had to slaughter your own animals?
In the past Ive had cause to 'put down' chickens, kittens, fish, gerbils, hamsters and other small animals (chickens when I worked on a farm and the others were sick pets) I could never imagine eating anything that Ive had to kill but I guess that makes me a hypocrite as I'll gladly eat pre-packed animals that someone else has been paid to slaughter. After all, a sausauge is not really a pig is it?
If you had to raise a lamb, and then take it from its mother, kill it, and then eat it would you?
just curious as to how we (as humans) love animals...as pets etc...but feel nothing about eating them.
Thanks.

Would cheerily slaughter my own meat/fish no problem, I think.
How do you put down a gerbil/hamster? Please don’t tell me “under me hob nailed boot” as I’d just die,lol

This is what I don't get. If humans are natural carnivores then why do we have such a revulsion about going out and killing (and eating) a baby animal (baby animals been the most easy prey of carnivores).
And how can you 'love and care' for animals when the entire time you are cultivating them for slaughter?
Not been judgemental here...I eat meat...just curious. I don't get it?

The mouse is caught but completely unharmed. Just release it back into the wild 100 yards or so from your property, and it's someone else's problem!

Doesn't make you a hypocrite any more than someone who couldn't face performing surgery on someone, who goes to hospital for surgery that corrects a health problem they have.
Thus "should have to kill your own meat" claim is pure nonsense brought up by vegetarians/vegans manipulating the fact that in civilised society many of us grow up soft, isolated from the realities of nature in order to make out they've made some point.
We all contribute to society according to our strengths/weaknesses. If I had to kill my own meat I'd probably pay someone to do it for me, same as people paid me for my skills when I worked.
