The toothache is still with me, although not quite as painful. Now it's spreading around my face and I've got some different antibiotics. My daughter tells me I look a character from Dr Seuss.

The nightmare never ceases.

where in the uk are you Rocky?
Sorry to hear that, it really is the worst pain. Is the plan to have the tooth out once the infection is cleared?
Are you having to go to work?

I sympathise, I really do :-(

I'm in Essex, Webbo.

Prudie, root canal treatment once the infection has been dealt with. Something to look forward to.....

Ummm, I've been off work for a couple of days but am going back tomorrow. Now I know the problem with my face should go away shortly, I don't mind. The pain seems to be more manageable at the moment as well.
Ahh, a bit far, I work in the Bristol Dental Hospital, and Monday to Friday mornings we have a walk in emergency service.
Can they not just pull it out? A lot less painful than root canal imo.
^ or is it somewhere that will show?
Part 2? Sorry havnt seen part 1 but funny enough had a filling myself today at the dentist.
A few years ago I kept getting a toothache that was making me sick but was to scared to go the dentist after a bad experience over 10 years ago until my mate persuaded me to visit his dentist. I had a cracked tooth that needed to come out (and it was causing infections, which were making me ill) I was terrified but the dentist turned out to be a really good one and whipped it out no problem.
Dental pain has got to be one of the most nauseating pains there is to endure, so, my sympathies rocky
I believe it's a front tooth Snags.

Hope you soon get some relief Rocky.

Webbo, that would have been ideal, and to be honest, if I'd known this on Friday I probably would have driven down :)

The tooth is right at the front so it ain't going anywhere...well, unless it breaks when they take it out for the root canal.

I'm actually terrified of the dentist and practically have a panic attack when sitting in the chair. I was better when the kids were with me for a check up as I had to pretend that it was no big deal, now they're adults, I feel like it's back to square one.

I have a very vivid memory from when I was about 8 years old when the dentist told me to stop crying, he held the drill near my face and told me that it was a dog and it would bite me if I didn't stop. So, I bit his finger when he put it in my mouth. I was barred from that particular dentist.

Thanks Mamy. I have everything crossed at the moment.
hope you get it sorted soon..xx
Poor you. Hopefully you've gotten over the worse! Good luck with root canal.

Thank you, both
a good dentist for me is the one who can inject the anaesthetic without you feeling it...even the roof of the mouth. Good luck.....xx
If it helps I've always been scared of the dentist but have had 3 root canals done. Although people joke about them they didn't hurt at all after the numbing injection, much better than a filling in my opinion as there's not so much drilling.

Apparently, I've had one before in the same tooth. I vaguely remember getting an infection when the tooth (it's a crown) was first put in about 20 years ago. I don't remember it being too traumatic, but then again, there was the pain which I would have been grateful to be free of. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it done, sooner rather than later.
Rocky, I have dentist tomorrow. Like you I am petrified. But have to go as I've got a tooth that aches sporadically so gonna get it sorted for once and for all. Mine is a molar so hoping I can still chew.
If it's your front tooth - hold on to it like grim's death. You have already suffered so much - keep on holding on.

Sharon, how did it go?
