They had tours you could go on, now they are looking to conducting weddings at Kettering Crematorium. Would you choose that as your venue?

Knowing the venue, it doesn't seem that daft - it's a pleasant enough place (if you ignore the gravestones ...) My main issue would be the utter incompatibility of the demeanour of the guests attending the events - after all a funeral is something of a celebration of the life of the deceased, whereas a wedding is a much more sombre occasion ...

If two people were dying to get married then yes ;-)

Probably wouldnt bother me - my forthcoming wedding is not about the wedding but about the marriage.

However, I see two issues. One, is in my experience, crematoria are often very very busy. And let's face it, you can't "plan" for death in the same way that you can a wedding. If someone dies, the corpse has to be disposed of within a reasonable amount of time.

Secondly, how are grieving relatives going to feel when a happy couple and their guests roll out of the hall looking all happy and cheerful when they are about to conduct a service for a loved one?

lol SD.
Not really a problem for the groom. If he's got that far his life as he's known it is over anyway.
You'd get a warm send off if nothing else.
Churches have weddings, funerals, gravestones. There's no reason why not.
Some even have images of some poor bloke nailed to a cross, roller coaster of ribaldry.
I don't see why not.
Although if I'm honest, I'd prefer somewhere with a bar.
Doug,that IS the groom...
Now there's an idea Barmaid, drinks on tap at crematoria, CHEERS!
This is the daftest idea KBC has had since the letter they sent telling us that fruit and veg peeled in the kitchen could go in recycling bin....fruit and veg peeled elsewhere must go in the black bin.....
I wrote asking for advice about the tangerines my guests had peeled in various rooms and then got the peel mixed up....they didn't reply....

Yes it's in a nice enough spot but it's not large....the two little car parks each have one access path to the building..... wedding guests and mourners would be mingling...unless we have wedding only/funeral only/burial only days.
There is nowhere the wedding group could be photographed without seeing or being seen by mourners.....
Looking at the overhead view map there isn't a lot of spare space for a new building with parking far enough away from the main chapels but hey......KBC will do it...just like they chopped down the beautiful tree to erect a hideous clock (that has never told the time) for one of their mates......

Yes churches have both.....but not at the same time.....think I'll stop now or I'll be ranting....... ;-)
Is that a no? :-)
Now whatever makes you think that, Pixie?! I'm mulling it over.. ;-)
There's a little cafe there though, Barmaid could bring a bottle in a carrier bag...x
I've never seen a wedding party come out of a church when I've gone to a funeral there, so I suppose they must have separate days for weddings and funerals. I guess crematoria would do the same thing.
They could, Clover.....but a church is just one building.....the crem is multiple chapels with more than one funeral happening at about the same time.....
Unless it's a new building far away it could be four funerals and a wedding...x
lol, Gness, you obviously KNOW I am a classy bird!
