Fa Cup And The Var
1 Answers
The VAR will be another reason for everyone to blame the ref. Some years ago, football professionals and the media were saying that referees were below standard and should be full time officials, Sir Alex Ferguson accusing one ref of being overweight and unfit. So, the referees were made full time but everyone still complains about decisions, even former refs like Howard Webb and Graham Poll are jumping on the bandwagon. You either want a referee or you don't. If no-one can accept his decisions, then look for an alternative. Is it VAR? I doubt it. Managers and coaches will still be saying things like: it should/should not have been used for some incidents and will still blame the ref when their teams have performed badly. It will be interesting to see if the VAR is used tonight in the Brighton v Palace cup tie. But in any event, the player didn't mean any harm did he? He's a genuine lad. Bless him.
