Totally agree MM....the silly things, the humour, the irony..the REAL. Coro Street.....the one that had people hooked for ages...and who actually enjoyed escapism and comedy.
I used to like Percy and Alex Gilroy... Ena and Minnie of course...
I never liked it .So can’t comment .
Phyllis !
Oh yes Phyllis! When I was young..100 yrs ago...I wrote to Violet Carson to say my granddad love her in the show...she wrote me a lovely letter, commented on my beautiful handwriting and that meant so much to me. I love CORO.... I am only frustrated at the silly modern storylines.... But then I'm an old fart.... Who considers my opinion lol.
Emily is coming back, Norris is on an extended break at his own request.
Reports of him being ill (and dead!) are untrue
Couldn’t,agree more,dunnitall.
Ahhh nice... can see the old ones on freeview ! ITV3 in the mornings
I did not like the shock ending last night at all and I agree a lot of the humour has gone. Thank goodness `some of it` still remains. I have been watching the old Corrie too and I just love Mavis and Rita, Jack and Vera and of course good `ole Hilda!!
Every weekday afternoon-Classic Corrie on ITV3. It's a real treat to see all the old characters again.
It's been like this since Kate Oates took over.
I like soaps when they make the bad people become good, but not the other way around, Billy was always a good person and now they have made him a drug addict WHY!!!
Better telly !

Some good posts, thanks all and I agree with Darcey about Kate Oates!
Todd was written out because Bruno Langley had been having sex with an underage girl. He got a suspended sentence but Corrie wrote hm out as soon as he was charged.

By the way, as a long life Corrie fan I watch ITVs Classic Coronation street which shows who episodes every weekday. Starts around 1986 but with so many episodes its caught up. We are saying goodbye to Hilda Hogden this week and Mike Baldwin has just split up with Susan Barlow. The young Peter Barlow was played b a very young David Stockwell from Heartbeat! I saw the very first episode in 1960 and I lived in the same village as one of the characters (graham Habberfield/Jerry Booth and used to babysit for him as well as help out at parties with all the cast, including Ena Sharples and Len Fairclough. Lots of humour, unlike now.
That should read "TWO EPISODES"
Nearly every week I say ‘that’s it, not gonna watch it any more’! and I have watched it from the very first episode, but I think that the David Platt storyline might just be the straw that broke the camels back as they say
Don’t know what happened there but only half my post appeared :( Rosie is leaving as she is pregnant andEva and Aiden are going too but returning are Martin Platt and oh my giddy aunt- Richard Hillman as a ghost or some such rubbish story line so this time I think I WILL be going....... ;)
Dunnitall - ITV3 (I think) play the old Corrie episodes during the day. Very nostalgic. Called Classic Coronation (alliteration)
sorry Linda - didn't see your post
