Why on earth did that girl today put herself through that humiliation?

She wasn't even trying, in the cash builder she was cutting off Brad with her passes before he'd even got half the questions out.

I'm sure she could have got some of them if she had stopped to listen.

Makes me wonder why the put themselves through it, I would love to go on a game show as I'm always the one shouting at the TV and regularly get up to top questions on Millionaire but I know if I was actual on the TV I would go to pieces and make a complete fool of myself.

This won't be a popular answer and may get pulled, but she was one of those people who believe their disability gives them the right to be rude. I thought Bradley, her team-mates and the Chaser did really well not to tell her to grow up.

I know, Barmaid, but if the first couple of words are 'Which planet...' you might as well listen to the question and then have a guess if you don't know.
this off the beaten track re today The chase - I only saw the tail end and I wasn't interested but some time ago I posted about actors/actresses who can't feint crying, laughing and being drunk.

A cuppla weeks Bradley was just jesting but acted a drunk and he was unbelievable.

Sorry for going off track here. But let's face it the blind girl was disabled so to speak. Let's cut her some slack.
I've heard of having an itchy buzzer finger so you jump in too fast with the wrong answer, but being so eager to pass that you don't even get a chance to hear the question is surprising. I wonder what came over her -- nerves, I expect. Hopefully after the show Jenny and Bradley were kind to her, because the audience certainly won't be.
Once you've lost that control, it's gone. I've seen it happen with pupil barristers. Your brain just does weird stuff. And your mouth and your brain become disconnected. It is, quite frankly, just nerves. But it is debilitating.

She doesnt need any slack cutting JJ. Whilst she might be visually impaired, she had a simple human brain fart. Her disability is neither here nor there.
It's still a disability. Must say I am glad I came through life - deaf - rather than blind. Have so much going for me - the first being Independence.
Absolutely, Barmaid. As I said on a different thread the other night, I was on 15-to-1 eight times, and I saw many contestants - whom I knew were keen quizzers from the discussions in the green room before recording - completely go to pieces when the red light went on and it was all suddenly real. It takes the utmost concentration to prevail, and even now on Uni Challenge I see contestants who are not really listening to the question, not truly engaged with what is going on. Believe me, the whole thing flashes past in what seems like moments....
I do not dispute it is a disability. But her disability I suspect had no impact on her ability to answer questions. That was more likely than not down to nerves. I have been there. I am all for making reasonable adjustments but I do not believe we should have any greater sympathy for her because of her visual impairment than we would for any other competitor in the same circumstances.

One of my closest friends, who is undoubtedly one of the best lawyers of his generation is going blind. If I made an allowance on his legal capabilities because of his eyesight he would (quite properly) tell me off. Yes, I will make reasonable adjustments to enable him to access documents etc, but his reasoning abilities are and his ability to practise are NOT in any way impugned by his failing eyesight.

I think to pity her on the basis of her disability is patronising and wrong.
Barmaid - I do try and not be patronising - sorry if that came across.
Try and walk in the moccasins of a blind person. It takes the blind to lead the blind. goodnight.
I am not sure what point you are trying to make JJ. And it doesnt take the blind to lead the blind. It takes a society with understanding who can make reasonable adjustments to enable someone who does not have full sight to reach their full potential. When my friend goes to the bench (which he will do), I shall be very proud indeed. (Although I have said I wont bow to him, but I also said to him it wont matter cos he wont see it anyway). We dont pussy foot around his failing sight.

I just think it is wrong to bring her sight loss into this. It's irrelevant.
Just struck me as sheer panic and wanting it over as quick as possible.
I've seen it now Mamy and I agree. It was just nerves. Nowt to do with anything else.
Poor thing she just got the blathers- it happens to actors too, sometimes they dry or corpse or occasionally blather and whilst all three are awful blathering is truly dreadful as your brain goes onto loony auto-pilot. Watch the girl at the end for a prime example :(
lol Kval. Perfect example of brain doing one thing and mouth doing something its never done before. Perhaps we should cut her some slack though because she is......[insert description].

Full on brain fart. No other reason necessary. No slack required!!!
Well this weather has taken us all by surprise. Don't think any of us are used to it but by gum people do enough complaining.

it will be away by next week so why all these dramatics.

We were shown in NI a guy who was stuck with a 7 month baby in the car and blaming the world for his circumstance. You know the fire brigade, road workers etc who were trying their best to get through to them.

What I want to know what was he doing with a 7 month baby - was the baby scheduled for an appointment in emergency in a hospital. The baby should NOT HAVE BEEN OUT.

DON'T TRY AND VENTURE out WITH A 7 MONTH BABY, YOU KNOW WHAT - "this when things go wrong in their lives - then it's the whole world's fault. Get a grip of your senses. SNOW, HURRICANE, WINDS, TSUNAMIS ARE ALL THE WORKS OF GOD so you can't blame the Fire Brigade, A&E, NHS, for those problems.

We have become a very embittered and blameful world for blaming what my mum would have called "The Act of God" - and AND SHE WAS RIGHT

You know what I truly think - people are soft today - not toughened like us - panicking panicking and panicking and wanting the end to be easy.

we all are coming through Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, London (Grt Britain essential) with a fortnight of snow and THEIR WORLD COMES CRUMBLING AROUND THEM.

For God's sake these people need to get a grip - first of all when we get this baltic weather everybody seems to on the blame game = please it is on a Gameshow not getting hanged - they blame blame blame and Tt is not the end of the world over A GAME SHOW

Now the other thing are my posts re Homelessness and Blind girl in The Chase.

Are there nobody who are sympathetic, empathetic or kind to the girl

Most of us all have all some missing faculties , this girl had one - she was blind - and there was a cry off from Barmaid.

"she shoulda been tougher

And the remark from Darcy - "how could that girl "humiliate" herself. Hello Darcy - she is totally blind.

Only she is female - remember the male doctor being pushed down on to the escalator

Sue - when you are born most of us are usually are born with our full faculties - this girl was minusing one full faculty.

Along the journey to the studio - was physically helped to the studio ,

Remember - she has been guided by hand through the studio - sat on podium with the rest of contestants - physically helped to be with Bradley - when she didn't win - she was physically helped off the stage. Act was cut of her entering and leaving the podium. Nobody saw that cos it was edited out

Thinking of the first poster described it as "Humiliation" for God's sake it is only a bloody game show.

JJ. there was not a "cry off from barmaid. There was a reasoned response as to why her performance and her sight loss are unrelated. I do not believe she would want your pity jj. I suggest you step away for the night because your last response was a bit odd.

Odd or not I was entitled to my opinion and I'll stand by it
As am I. Without it being described as a "cry off."
why won't you bow to him - cos he's blind and can't see. Disprectful in my opinion
disprectful
