Personally I enjoy it... but then obviously I don't support the overbreeding of certain breeds that then exhibit health problems. I was under the impression that Crufts also doesn't support this though (thankfully!).

But then shouldn't dogs be family pets, or working dogs? Not breed to 'show off'?

Interested to hear other people's opinions on Crufts!!

Uninterested. Much as in previous years.
Having been dragged round dog shows most of my childhood and then for some mad reason doing it myself for a few years as an adult I have a modicum of interest. I think the Kennel Club are slowly righting some of the wrongs done over the years but a lot of damage has been done to some breeds and it will take many generations to put right. The breed I used to have ended up riddled with health issues so I gave it up.
something i avoid like the plague, many of the dogs look groomed beyond satire, and i can't see having some breeds that have major health issues because their owners want them to look nice, cute etc.
I like to watch the Best in Show but all the flyball and agility stuff doesn't interest me at all. Yes I think a lot of damage has been done by breeders in the past and some of the health issues created are almost impossible to rectify. The other aspect I don't like is the fact that the dogs are just commercial objects - professional handlers, corporately owned and far too many foreign exhibitors. I know it's old-fashioned but I wish it was dogs bred, shown and handled by their owners - plus boxers never get a look-in!
I used to enjoy the much fuller BBC coverage from decades ago with Stanley Dangerfield. If I watch it now I can see the results of breeders over-doing it which is a great shame (thinking particularly of the GSD's). I can get annoyed watching the handlers making the smaller dogs stand by pulling on the leads to bring them off the ground. But, all that said, I love seeing the dogs.
was watching the One Show with Catherine Tate being interviewed, she has a new programme out about the British Bulldog, now there is a breed that has shamelessly been altered and can't be fixed. Its why i don't like dog shows, unless its scruffs.
Prudie, I love the flyball and agility, the dogs always look like they are having the greatest fun and it doesn't always go to plan on the agility course which is so endearing.
I HATE it with a vengance and will never watch it. The best thing about it is the flyball, with dogs having fun and doing what come naturally, but I won't even watch that now. I wish it could be banned..
Just saw this anthro:
